I am interested in studying molecules on surfaces at the molecular- and nanometer scale using scanning probe microscopy. Together with Yabing Qi and Daniel Esteban I am investigating the electronic and mechanical properties of organic molecules using current-sensing Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). In collaboration with the Nanofabrication lab at LBNL I am working on the fabrication of coplanar electrode nano-structures. These will allow us to measure the electron transport properties of Self Assembled Monolayers (SAM) and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of organic molecules and to simultaneously image and mechanically manipulate these SAMs and LB films with AFM.
